After taking the summer off from meetings (while remaining very active), Voter Services met again, in person, on Thursday, September 3, at the Brown County Central Library, with a packed agenda.

  • Dawn Smith & Lynn Meshke spoke with St. Paul’s United Women of Faith on the upcoming Constitutional Amendments on September 14.

  • Members of Voter Services tabled at a back-to-school event, “Sample the City,” at UWGB on September 15.

  • Lynn Meshke designed and created specific literature to hand out when tabling on the upcoming amendments, and once again created two short videos which we’ve shared on our YouTube channel. The links are below, so please share with all the Wisconsin voters you know. Help us inform Wisconsin voters about what’s on the ballot in November.

  • Joshua reached out about potentially partnering on some election protection events –  the committee was interested, and we’re just waiting to hear back.

  • We’ve been invited to table at an event hosted by Wisconsin Voices of Faith at the Mauthe Center on October 20 from 5:30-8:00. The event will consist of a meal, conversation, and an art project led by artist Niki Johnson, who was the keynote speaker at the LWVWI State Convention in 2025.

  • We decided not to do candidate videos this fall and see if we get any feedback. We put a lot of work into the spring videos, and, out of 80 invitations, we got only 17 candidates who participated.

  • The Education Committee is working on setting up a panel of local Superintendents to explain school referenda.

  • Our National Popular Vote Committee will be the featured presenters at an Indivisible event at the Kress Library on October 14 at 6 p.m. LWV members are encouraged to attend.

Since our last meeting, we’ve signed up to participate in Trunk or Treat at Options for Independent Living on October 29.  We’re looking for volunteers to hand out treats, and we’re working on a collaboration with the YWCA in October.

Voter Services meets the first Thursday of the month, which is October 1; I’ll be on my way to Tennessee, so we’ll cancel the meeting in October. I tried to find a time to reschedule, but our calendar is full of events.

  • Voter Services members, watch your email for upcoming volunteer opportunities.

  • Members, if you’d like to get added to the Voter Services email group, please reach out to dawnmariestr@gmail.com.
