Dawn Smith, President

Hello League Friends!

I’m in the middle of corresponding with over 50 candidates to whom Voter Services has sent invites, asking them to submit a 10-minute video for us to share on our YouTube channel; it’s taking WAY more time than I thought it would, so I need to get back to it. But there’s a lot going on right now that I want to share.

We’ve completed one of the four elections in 2026 – it was the smallest election. Only one race was on the ballot in my district – but local elections are undervalued. They are important! A huge thank you to all our members who worked the polls on February 17 – thank you for your service and for making voting possible in our community.

Last Saturday was our Lively Issues event, which always provides amazing conversation. A lot of things that were discussed aligned directly with existing committees who will take the ideas and see if they have any traction with their committee members. But a few did not align with any committee. The ones that stuck out to me were immigration and affordability.  Both are extremely relevant today, so if anyone has any thoughts or ideas about how we, as a League, can engage on these topics, reach out and let me know. If you have the passion to start a new committee or work on a specific topic, we’re here to help you. We just need to make sure that the work we do aligns with Nationals Impact on Issues.

Last thing I want to share – our Green Bay Area Public Schools School Board forum will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at the Brown County Central Library Auditorium. The event will also be live-streamed to our YouTube channel.

We’ll also be sharing any candidate videos we receive on our YouTube channel, so please be sure to check it out periodically and share any videos you think would provide value to people in your network.

Hang in there my friends! There’s a lot going on, and sometimes it feels like endlessly treading water. But I know you’re all there with me, and that’s a huge comfort.
