Voter Services Committee - July 2026
Dawn Smith, Chair
June has been a busy month for Voter Services. We spent most of our June meetings planning events. Members of Voter Services hosted tables at Juneteenth and Pride. I had the opportunity to stop by the Pride event and join Lynn Meshke and Lynn Gerlach, who were representing the League at our table, and it was a lovely event. We also got 50+ people to sign up for our newsletter, which is a huge accomplishment. Pictures from both events can be found on our Facebook page.
At the June meeting we also approved the purchase of 500 LWV Greater Green Bay pens. With all the events we’ve been doing, the pens and our magnets are great giveaways, and they keep us in people’s minds after the events are done.
Lynn Meshke and I had the opportunity to meet with the Youth Action Board at House of Hope this month, which was a great opportunity for us to share election information with young women in our community. We’ve been invited back to speak to their self-care group in the future.
There was a lot of discussion around possible events we could host on August 8 in alignment with the National League’s Unite & Rise Day of Action. We attempted to get a booth at the Farmer’s Market, but their non-profit spots were all taken for that day; however, we were able to sign up for August 15. We’ll be working with the Mayor’s office in the hopes that he’ll write a proclamation for us around the Voting Rights Act.
With July 4 this week, we cancelled July’s Voter Services meeting, and August’s meeting was on the same day as our Annual Summer Picnic, so I’m hoping members will attend the picnic instead, and we can meet together, in person, in September.
