Voter Services Update – April 2026

Dawn Smith and Christine Lemerande, Co-chairs

General Election years are always busy for Voter Services, and this year is no exception.  We invited 50+ local candidates to submit ten-minute videos, asking them to answer two questions –

·      Why are you running for office?

·      What are the three top issues facing your community/district, and, if elected, what will you do to address those issues?

Seventeen candidates submitted videos. Given that this was our first try administering videos this way, and that there was a tremendous amount of work involved with this project, we’re pleased with the turn-out and hope this is a service we can offer again in the future. Thank you to Lynn Meshke for all her work setting up the Dropbox links for the candidates, and to the Voter Service members who helped screen the candidate videos.

We also hosted a Green Bay Area Public Schools School Board forum at the Brown County Central Library on Wednesday, March 18.  All four candidates participated in the forum, and we hired AVM to live-stream the event.  We had 35 people in the audience, and they provided enough questions to fill the entire hour and half. A special thanks to Jean Marsch for, once again, doing an excellent job as our forum moderator, to Don and Jean Dahlstrom for being our timekeepers, and to League members who helped distribute note cards and welcome audience members. The GBAPS School Board forum has become a tradition for our League, and we couldn’t host it without the support of our members.

We encourage you to check out our YouTube page and share the link with family and friends. We’ve also shared the link on our Facebook page; if you use Facebook, please share the link: https://www.youtube.com/@leagueofwomenvotersgreater1967.  The more traffic we get to our page, the more candidates will be incentivized to participate in our events in the future.

We are currently having discussions with the YWCA about a potential event on April 25. We don’t have enough information to share yet, but watch your email for more information.
